Word Feast is excited to announce that David Huebert will be visiting Fredericton to read from his debut collection of short fiction, Peninsula Sinking, on March 15, 7pm at Westminster Books (445 King St.). The reading is free and open to the public.
David will also be offering a writing workshop — “Fiction Wandering” — on the next afternoon, March 16, from 1-4pm at the Fredericton Public Library (12 Carleton St.). The cost for the workshop (details below) is $30. To register, please email info@wordfeast.ca. Space is limited and on a first come, first served basis. Deadline for registration is March 1.
“Fiction Wandering” details: This workshop focuses on movement in fiction writing — the movement both of sentences and narrative. After working through a nuts-and-bolts passage analysis exercise, we will write and revise prose passages and scenes with the intent of cultivating motion. Participants can bring a passage to work on.
David Huebert is a Canadian writer of fiction, poetry, and critical prose whose work has won the CBC Short Story Prize, the Sheldon Currie Fiction Prize, and The Walrus Poetry Prize, among other awards. David’s work has been published in magazines such as The Fiddlehead, EVENT, enRoute, and Canadian Notes & Queries, and was recently anthologized in Best Canadian Stories 2017. His debut short fiction collection, Peninsula Sinking, was published in October 2017 by Biblioasis.
